YES. I will go kayaking with you, cute boy. And camping and hiking too. While we’re at it we can stargaze and light a campfire. I MISS SUMMER

  2. Cute Valentine's cards?

    Not for like, an actual lover* but rather for everyone that is loved in my life.

    *hahahaha

  3. buildingaladder asked: I got home from sushi and right now I'm listening Seal's Kiss From A Rose. (Yes, go ahead and be jealous.)

    WHAT ARE YOU DOING ON THIS LOVELY FRIDAY NIGHT?!?!?!?!?! mmmmm?

    Due to my internet drought at home,  I just received your question. In answer, I was sleeping off the 4 tequila shots ingested at happy hour that day. WOO! Sushi sounds heavenly though - might have that for lunch today.

  4. thisiswhy asked: What shows/openings/events are you looking forward to here in Seattle, if any?

    oh good question! There is some stuff coming up that I’m excited for.. but I feel like Seattle is currently in somewhat of an entertainment dry spell. It could just be that Jan-March are less popular band touring months than the warmer ones (aka July here), which is understandable. Anyway here is my somewhat short list:

    • Florence + the Machine Apr. 15
    • Coachella - it doesn’t technically count since it’s not local, but if my plans work out for it I’ll be so stoked
    • Bumbershoot but that’s a looong way off, as well as SIFF
    • looking forward to finally seeing my friend Andrew’s band The Keeper live somewhere in Ballard
    • As far as local bands I’d like to see live in the next few months - Feral Children, Ravenna Woods, Hazelwood Motel, Telekinesis, Nurses, the Globes, Blind Pilot, and Fleet Foxes if they ever come out of hiding.

    What about yourself?

    Radiohead - Talk Show Host

    After Pyramid song this is my #2. Seeing them play this live was one of my top 10 life experiences.

    How long has it been since you did it? I’m afraid if I take the plunge that a) I’ll feel like I dropped off the face of the earth, and b) my friends will be posting pics with me in them willy-nilly and I won’t know to tell them to delete the embarassing drunk ones.

    I am two weeks into my third go-round. The first two lasted about a month each before I caved. I have a feeling this time it will stick.

    <snip>

    Now, for point b. If someone wants to find something embarrassing about you on the internet, they’ll find it. The pictures won’t be tagged and won’t be searchable. Besides, who really gives a shit if there’s a picture of you with your eyes half open buried somewhere amongst one of your friend’s 45 photo albums? Hell, be a trendsetter and convince all your friends to ditch it, then you won’t have anything to worry about. Check that, you don’t want all your friends to bail. You never know when you might need someone to do some reconnaissance. (The voyeuristic urges don’t go away.)

    <snip>

    That sir, is the most convincing rant against it I have heard yet. To me, the most dangerous thing about it is how sneakily it convinces you that it’s a substitute for actual human connection. In reality it’s a split-second firing of your “social neurons” (that’s the scientific term)  but isn’t actually real.

    But I love how you brought up voyeuristic urges, because that’s the main reason I want to get rid of it. I absolutely loathe the thought that people I barely know can look up detailed info and pics of me. And maybe it is a bit self-centered to assume people are looking at my stuff but we know we all do it at some point. And some people spend their entire days on the site. One of my FB friends notices literally within a minute when anything happens on the site. This dead-on article and your rant may have convinced me. I’m gunna DOOO ITTT!!!
